THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FLOWER FESTIVAL (MK Katjedi) jumped outwards, losing one length. b) PAS DE NOM (C Habib) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h19) b) Shortly after the start BRENDEN JAMES (C Little) made contact with FLOWER FESTIVAL (MK Katjedi), which jumped outwards. c) DOWSER (L Mxothwa) over raced in the middle stages. d) MASTER FORESTER (S Khumalo) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed on the outside of VIHAAN'S QUEEN (M van Rensburg), which shifted outwards away from the crop at approximately the 250m. e) Leaving the 250m, Jockey Y Ramzan (WAZ WOUTER) dropped his crop. f) In view of the performance of PAS DE NOM (C Habib) (Betting 4/1; Distance 7.75 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. g) BRENDEN JAMES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel was advised.
