THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PARTY GIRL (S Khumalo) jumped awkwardly. b) KLEIN JAN (MK Katjedi) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h02) b) Due to a technical issue with the Jockey scale, all Riders were weighed out manually. c) KLEIN JAN (MK Katjedi), which was slow into stride, failed to muster speed, raced wide around the bend and into the straight and raced detached from the field throughout. d) MIO DESTINO (L Mxothwa) was carried in by PARTY GIRL (S Khumalo), which raced green and shifted inwards away from the crop at approximately the 150m and was immediately corrected. Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of PARTY GIRL he misused his crop by striking PARTY GIRL more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4 000,00. e) MIO DESTINO (L Mxothwa) returned with a unilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1.
