THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) STREET TALK (O Noach) was restless in the stalls, taken out, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a delay.
b) KLEINZEE (A Domeyer) was restless in the stalls.
c) MEG'S LEGACY (*J Botes) was restless in the stalls and rushed the front gates.
d) RAHHABBA (*DD Louw) kicked in the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) DREAM SEARCHER recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer AN Marcus was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level.
b) Shortly after the start STREET TALK (O Noach) and DIXIELAND BAND (C Orffer) had to be checked away from the heels of KLEINZEE (A Domeyer), which shifted in while racing on the inside of WISH LIST (M Yeni).
After interviewing Jockeys A Domeyer (KLEINZEE), C Orffer (DIXIELAND BAND), O Noach (STREET TALK) and M Yeni (WISH LIST) with regards to this incident, the Stewards will proceed to a formal Inquiry into this incident.
c) Leaving the 200m, WISH LIST (M Yeni) was momentarily held up and directed outwards for a clear run. Shortly thereafter, while improving on the outside of LADY LOOK ALIKE (L Mxothwa), WISH LIST (M Yeni) was carried outwards and brushed DREAM SEARCHER (C Bantam).
d) In the concluding stages RAHHABBA (*DD Louw) was checked and made contact with the hindquarters of LADY LOOK ALIKE (L Mxothwa) when bumped outwards by VIVA LA VIDA (S Veale), which showed a tendency to hang out from the 200m.
An Inquiry will be held into this incident.
e) VIVA LA VIDA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised. (ZM)
