THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NORDIC SPY (Y Ramzan) and MEDITERRANEANFLAME (J Gates) were stubborn loading. b) THE ROARING ROCK (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls. c) LOOKING GOOD (MK Katjedi) was nervous in the stalls and thereafter, was slow into stride. d) ALL SYSTEMS GO (C Zackey) and TOUCH THE SWORD (C Little) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Permission was granted for LOOKING GOOD (MK Katjedi) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. b) NORDIC SPY (Y Ramzan) jumped awkwardly inwards and made contact with THROW A PARTY (W Agrella) shortly after the start. c) TOUCH THE SWORD (C Little), which was slow into stride, failed to muster speed and raced detached from the field until the 400m. d) QUICK CROWN (*N Nastili) was carried inwards by BRIGHT ERUPTION (S Naidoo) and had to steady momentarily off the heels BUGLE (C Maujean) at approximately the 500m. e) ALL SYSTEMS GO (C Zackey), which raced green, was directed outwards to obtain clear running at approximately the 300m. f) BUGLE (C Maujean) raced green and shifted out sharply shortly before the finish. g) MEDITERRANEANFLAME (J Gates) raced green. h) In view of the performance of NORDIC SPY (Y Ramzan), which raced green and was not ridden strongly to the finish line, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Y Ramzan appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the manner in which he rode this gelding. He explained to the Board that NORDIC SPY had raced green and had refused to raise a gallop. The Board, after viewing the patrol film and giving regard to Jockey Y Ramzan's explanation, were of the opinion that Jockey Y Ramzan had not exerted himself fully on this gelding. Jockey Y Ramzan was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.2 in that he rode NORDIC SPY in an unprofessional manner. Jockey Y Ramzan signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning. Assistant Trainer DG Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. i) Jockey W Agrella reported that THROW A PARTY choked up in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. j) Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on WORLD OF DIAMONDS, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer, which resulted in a change of Rider. Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000.00. k) THE ROARING ROCK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
