THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PEACE ROSE (C Murray) and PEGGY SUE SHAKE (A Mgudlwa) lost 1 length. b) COSMIC ORBIT (*D Pillay) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start PEGGY SUE SHAKE (A Mgudlwa) was squeezed out between WORLD OF FLOWERS (N Patel) and GORGEOUS CAPE (C Zackey) which jumped outwards. b) At the 400m PEACE ROSE (C Murray) was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of FLYING SOUTH (C Little) which raced green, hung out throughout and rolled out. A race review was called followed by an objection lodged by Jockey C Murray on behalf of the third placed horse, PEACE ROSE against the second placed horse FLYING SOUTH (C Little) on the grounds of interference at the 400m. After considering the video footage and the evidence presented, the Board was of the view that but for the above incident, PEACE ROSE (C Murray) would not have beaten FLYING SOUTH (C Little). Therefore, the Objection was overruled and the Judges' result was allowed to stand. In arriving at this decision the Board considered the extent of the interference, the fact that this incident occurred at the 400m and the distance of 0.30 lengths between these two horses at the finish. Jockey C Murray's deposit was refunded. c) At the 300m GORGEOUS CAPE (C Zackey) briefly raced in restricted room between WINTER BLESSING (R A Venniker) and FLYING SOUTH (C Little) which rolled out. d) GORGEOUS CAPE (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Roscoe acting on behalf of Trainer D Kannemeyer was advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) WINTER BLESSING raced equipped with blinkers (advised 19.08.2025/07h38). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) No report. SCRATCHINGS : a) BLUE POPPY : Abscess left front (Trainer - 19.08.2025/15h12). Rule 53.5 applies.
