THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) ROYAL SWORD (S Moodley) over-raced in the early stages. b) At the 1000m TWOCANTANGO (*D D Louw) was carried wide by MR RAZZLE (R A Venniker) which proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages and shifted out away from the heels of CAPE CANNERY (T Godden). c) SUNNYBILLS FERRARI (S Sosibo) proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages. Thereafter this gelding commenced to hang out and raced wide into the straight. d) CHEERSCHEERSCHEERS (C Murray) raced green and hung out from the 500m. e) In view of the performance of MR RAZZLE (R A Venniker) (19.35 lengths, 33/1 in the betting), which was not persevered with in the concluding stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this gelding is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. f) Trainer W Whitehead was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1., in that she failed to ensure that the owner's colours were available for the horse DOIN' TIME. Trainer W Whitehead signed an admission of guilt and a warning was issued. g) Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1., in that he failed to ensure that the owner's colours were available for the horse MOUNT KENNEDY. Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) signed an admission of guilt and was fined R250. h) ROYAL SWORD (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
