THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MEET THE KING (S Veale), SATELLITE WORLD (A Fortune) and USA DANCER (M Yeni) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, MEET THE KING (S Veale), SATELLITE WORLD (A Fortune) and USA DANCER (M Yeni) made contact. b) At the 1000m THE BIG BANG (G Wright) was carried out by SOMMERSTERN (C Little), which shifted outwards abruptly when steadied close to the heels of USA DANCER (M Yeni). The Stewards, after interviewing Jockeys C Little (SOMMERSTERN) and M Yeni (USA DANCER), considered if there were sufficient grounds to prefer a charge against Jockey M Yeni. After taking into account the evidence of the patrol films from various angles, the Stewards were of the opinion that they could not be satisfied to the requisite degree that USA DANCER (M Yeni) had shifted in across the rightful running of SOMMERSTERN (C Little), which had resulted in this incident taking place. As a consequence, Jockey M Yeni was afforded the benefit of the doubt in this matter but nevertheless was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear of runners before shifting ground. c) Leaving the 50m DELTA PRIDE (JP van der Merwe), which was hanging in and NIGHTRAIN (R Fourie) brushed when NIGHTRAIN (R Fourie) rolled out marginally. d) NIGHTRAIN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised. (TJ) e) DELTA PRIDE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
