THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TOP DOLLAR (J Gates) was nervous and reared in the stalls. b) LORD QUINN (M Yeni) jumped slow, losing one length. c) INCENDIARY (L Mxothwa) and ACTION AMERICA (C Little) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h03) b) Permission was granted for EL CAPITAN (M van Rensburg) and LORD QUINN (M Yeni) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) ACTION AMERICA (C Little) over raced in the early and middle stages and proved difficult to settle. d) PIBE DE ORO (R Fourie) was hanging out from the 400m. e) LORD QUINN (M Yeni) jumped a patch at approximately the 200m and took an awkward stride. Thereafter, Jockey M Yeni reported that LORD QUINN took a number of awkward strides in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer K Mitchley was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. f) EL CAPITAN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WGC Miller was advised.
