THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHERE FOR ME (*G Dookhit) was reluctant to load. b) CHRONICLESOFNANIA (C Maujean) jumped awkwardly. c) SUCHALIFE (L Mxothwa) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h11) b) Permission was granted for COURAGEOUS (R Fourie) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) STAR OF ELENA (C Zackey) and COURAGEOUS (R Fourie) over raced in the early stages. d) STAR OF ELENA (C Zackey) was hanging in from the 400m. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) COURAGEOUS (R Fourie) was hanging out from the 350m f) At approximately the 150m CHRONICLESOFNANIA (C Maujean) shifted out away from the crop. Trainer JVA Strydom lodged an objection on behalf of the 2nd placed horse COSMIC CLIFFS (*N Nastili) against the 1st placed CHRONICLESOFNANIA (C Maujean) on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. The Objection Board, after giving regard to the evidence put forward, reviewing the patrol films and giving consideration of the margin of 0,10 of a length between the two horses concerned, was satisfied that COSMIC CLIFFS (*N Nastili) would not have finished ahead of CHRONICLESOFNANIA (C Maujean) had this incident not occurred and therefore overruled the Objection. The Objection Board considered this objection to be unwarranted and declared the Objection fee forfeit in terms of Rule 67.7.3 and imposed a fine of R3 000.00 on Trainer JVA Strydom. g) Jockey L Mxothwa reported that SUCHALIFE choked up in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. h) CHRONICLESOFNANIA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
