THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) HAVANA GREY (C Habib) was stubborn loading, nervous in the stalls and slow into stride.
b) PENNY'S WORLD (*G Dookhit) was nervous in the stalls and jumped awkwardly.
c) ENCHANTING LADY (MK Katjedi) jumped slow, losing one length.
d) HOERIKWAGGO (R Fourie) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) MY AMI BEACH was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 37 TCO2. mmol/L. Assistant Trainer C Kaknis was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Assistant Trainer C Kaknis was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the threshold of 38 mmol/L and that consequently MY AMI BEACH was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 14h31, 8/1 in the betting). MY AMI BEACH was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis as per standard TCO2 protocols.
b) PENNY'S WORLD (*G Dookhit) proved difficult proceeding to the start and was led, Riderless, by a Handler from the 800m, causing a delay. Trainer L Gila was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future engagements, she may be suspended.
c) DANISH DYNAMITE (L Mxothwa) was hanging in badly from the 500m. In an attempt to correct this at approximately the 150m, DANISH DYNAMITE (L Mxothwa) shifted outwards slightly, was restrained and then was directed inwards away from BONJOUR LA VILLE (M Yeni), which shifted inwards from the 200m.
d) PENNY'S WORLD (*G Dookhit) shifted in away from the crop at the 250m.
Apprentice G Dookhit was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix G) in that he struck PENNY'S WORLD unnecessarily when it was out of contention for a place. Apprentice G Dookhit signed an admission of guilt and was given a warning.
e) BONJOUR LA VILLE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM)
