THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CELESTIAL ROCKET (*S Bungane) jumped outwards. b) TRIP TO CAMELOT (G Lerena) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start WHIRLWIND (R Fourie) was steadied and lost position when tightened for galloping room between MOODY BLUE (K Steyn) and CELESTIAL ROCKET (*S Bungane), which had jumped outwards. b) At the 800m FLEUR DE VILLE (*V Jodhee) rolled inwards and then shifted out sharply when corrected. c) In view of the debut performance of TRIP TO CAMELOT (G Lerena) (Betting 3/1; Distance 7.25 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. d) In view of the performance of MOUNT AUGUSTUS (JP van der Merwe), which tired quickly in the latter stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Trainer JMT Stewart was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of MOODY BLUE. Trainer JMT Stewart signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R250,00. f) DEMANDING DAVE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JMT Stewart was advised.
