THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) PLAYMAKER (K Minnie) jumped slow, losing three lengths.
b) RIVER FERN (M Yeni) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) RIVER FERN recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer K Mitchley was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. (12h31) This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level.
b) PLAYMAKER (K Minnie), which jumped slow, failed to muster speed and raced detached from the field until the 100m. Thereafter, this colt was directed outwards to avoid running onto the heels of KHICHDI (C Zackey).
In view of the report from the Starter regarding PLAYMAKER (K Minnie), this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to jump on terms with a companion. (Suspension dates: 11/09/2025 to 17/09/2025 inclusive) PLAYMAKER may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
c) STAR TROOPER (X Ndlovu) raced wide without cover on the turn and into the straight.
d) Jockey C Zackey did not persevere with his riding of KHICHDI from the 300m. Thereafter, Jockey C Zackey reported that KHICHDI choked up in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e) DIAMOND JIM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM)
f) BANDMASTER, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer E Kaknis was advised. (LM)
