THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Permission was granted for GENTEEL (M Yeni) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. b) LADY PENNY (*N Nastili) jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with SECONDS OUT (S Naidoo), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. Thereafter, LADY PENNY (*N Nastili) over raced in the middle stages. c) VINO RIOJA (*G Dookhit) shifted out away from the crop at the 250m and was corrected at the 100m. d) Apprentice N Nastili reported that he felt something amiss with LADY PENNY. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey M van Rensburg was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on ROYAL MISSY, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Jockey M van Rensburg signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. f) Jockey C Maujean was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline B of Appendix E on the use of the crop) in that he struck OH MANDY with the crop arm above shoulder height in the straight. Jockey C Maujean signed an admission of guilt and was fined R500.00. g) GENTEEL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM) h) ROYAL MISSY, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel was advised.
