THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SMASHING (K Minnie) was nervous in the stalls and stood awkwardly. b) HAVANA GREY (X Ndlovu) was nervous in the stalls, stood awkwardly and jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h33) b) Jockey L Mxothwa reported that ENCHANTING LADY changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. c) Jockey M Yeni reported that AIR BORN LADY made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Apprentice N Nastili reported that he felt something amiss with PITON DE NEIGE. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this mare on her return to the stables. e) In view of the performance of HAVANA GREY (X Ndlovu), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. f) Apprentice B Soodoo (FIERY COUNTESS) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. g) SPORTS FAN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
