THE STARTER REPORTED: a) THURLOE PLACE (S Moodley) and BEYOND ALL DOUBT (D Daniels) were stubborn to load. b) PLAY WORLD (J Jacobs) was stubborn to load. Trainer A Rivalland will be advised to reschool this gelding. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start WAR EMPEROR (S Sosibo) and THURLOE PLACE (S Moodley) came together and bumped when awkwardly placed between PLAY WORLD (J Jacobs) and COGNAC (S Veale) which jumped outwards leaving the starting stalls. b) Approaching the 400m CLEARTHERUNWAY (A Mgudlwa) was carried in by SON OF RAFEEF (S Khumalo) which hung in from the 600m and was directed inwards off the heels of BOURNE SUPREMACY (T Godden). c) BOURNE SUPREMACY (T Godden) hung out from the 300m. d) THURLOE PLACE (S Moodley) shifted both ways from the crop from the 250m. e) Jockey M Yeni reported that HERE COMES JOHNNY took an awkward stride at the 400m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Trainer A J Rivalland was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1, in that he failed to notify the Chief Stipendiary Steward within two days that the horse PLAY WORLD is a gelding. Stable Employee D Rivalland acting on behalf of Trainer A J Rivalland signed an admission of guilt and was fined R250. g) COGNAC (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
