THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) SAN QUINTIN (MK Katjedi) was nervous in the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h54)
b) Apprentice B Soodoo (CATCH THE TUNE) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride.
c) COSMIC CLIFFS commenced to lose ground from approximately the 700m and Apprentice N Nastili did not persevere with his riding from the 500m. Thereafter, Apprentice N Nastili reported that he felt something amiss with this filly. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this filly is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised.
Trainer JVA Strydom was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables.
d) At approximately the 300m CATCH THE TUNE (*B Soodoo), which was hanging in from the 400m, shifted inwards onto the heels of SAN QUINTIN (X Ndlovu) and was immediately corrected.
e) Jockey X Ndlovu was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline B on the use of the crop) in that he struck SAN QUINTIN with his crop arm above shoulder height. Jockey X Ndlovu signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00
f) Trainer Z Oosthuizen was charged with a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he presented RICHARDTHEFEARLESS incorrectly shod in the parade ring, which resulted in this gelding being scratched. Trainer Z Oosthuizen signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R2500.00.
g) SAN QUINTIN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer E Kaknis was advised. (LM)
