THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) PANTHERA UNCIA (M van Rensburg) reared in the stalls, was taken out, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn, causing a delay.
b) PENNY'S WORLD (L Mxothwa) was nervous in the stalls.
c) NORTH STAR (R Fourie) and CITY OF DREAMS (*B Soodoo) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h19)
b) Permission was granted for CITY OF DREAMS (*B Soodoo) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start.
c) Apprentice B Soodoo (CITY OF DREAMS) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride.
d) Shortly after the start, CITY OF DREAMS (*B Soodoo) made contact with NORTH STAR (R Fourie). As a consequence, Apprentice B Soodoo (CITY OF DREAMS) briefly lost his footing to his left side stirrup iron and became unbalanced for a number of strides.
e) HAPPY WIVES (K Minnie) took an awkward stride shortly after the start.
f) At approximately the 250m MISS SHAIVI (C Habib) had to steady when awkwardly placed on the heels of JET SET RUN (X Ndlovu), which was hanging in, shifted inwards and was immediately corrected.
g) FULL OF MAGIC (*N Nastili) was hanging in from the 200m.
h) CITY OF DREAMS (*B Soodoo) was baulked for galloping room from the 150m and was directed outwards to obtain clear running at the 50m. Thereafter, Apprentice B Soodoo (CITY OF DREAMS) dropped his left side rein shortly before the finish line.
i) In view of the report from the Starter regarding PANTHERA UNCIA (M van Rensburg), Trainer WGC Miller was advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
j) SWEET JULIA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised. (LM)
