THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SWEET CAKE (+M Khaka) was stubborn loading and slow into stride. b) MOVE TO THE GROOVE (+A Sojece) jumped slow, losing two lengths c) AMERICAN EAGLE (+A Gwadiso) and MAGNUS THE GOOD (+T Gabelana) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GLOBAL ZEE (+Z Matwa) took an awkward stride at the 400m and again at the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) MOVE TO THE GROOVE (+A Sojece) shortened its stride and shifted inwards sharply at the 250m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer E Kaknis was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. c) SWEET CAKE (+M Khaka) was directed inwards but shifted sharply outwards at the 250m and thereafter shortened its stride. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Work Rider T Gabelana (MAGNUS THE GOOD) did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) AMERICAN MATADOR, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
