THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TOP DOLLAR (X Ndlovu) stood awkwardly and fly-jumped leaving the stalls, losing two lengths. b) WINTER EMERALDS (R Fourie) stood awkwardly in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h05) b) Permission was granted for AETHELWULF (W Agrella) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) BOMBER BAY (R Fourie) and THE QUAICH (L Mxothwa) over raced in the early and middle stages. d) At approximately the 400m Jockey L Mxothwa eased THE QUAICH out of the race and thereafter reported that he felt something amiss with this colt. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this colt is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. Trainer K Mitchley will be advised. e) BOMBER BAY (R Fourie) was hanging in from the 150m. f) ACTION AMERICA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
