THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JUAN CARLOS (C Maujean) was stubborn loading. b) HEEMSTEDE (C Little) was nervous in the stalls, jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. c) WALKONTHEWILDSIDE (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length. d) ALADO'S PRIDE (X Ndlovu) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h56) b) FIRST WISH (K Minnie) was hanging out on the turn. c) ALADO'S PRIDE (X Ndlovu) was baulked for galloping room from the 200m. d) JUAN CARLOS (C Maujean) shifted out away from the crop from the 150m and was corrected shortly before the finish. e) Shortly before finish WALKONTHEWILDSIDE (R Fourie), which shifted out away from the crop, made contact with HEEMSTEDE (C Little), which shifted in away from the crop. f) Jockey C Little was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of HEEMSTEDE he misused his crop by striking HEEMSTEDE more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey C Little signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. g) JUAN CARLOS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing was advised.
