THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GIMMELIGHTNING (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ALL THE RAGE recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer C Bass was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) Shortly after the start, POWERANDTHEGLORY (R Fourie) was steadied briefly when awkwardly placed on the outside of DISTING (S Moodley). c) Jockeys C Orffer and C Little were interviewed regarding an incident that took place leaving the 1200m in which SURGE OF POWER (C Orffer) was steadied. Jockey C Orffer told the Stewards that while GOOD FOR YOU (C Little) had shifted in and onto his racing line, he had anticipated that SURGE OF POWER would become close to the heels of GOOD FOR YOU (C Little) which, in his opinion, was just clear. The Stewards accepted this explanation. However, Jockey C Little (GOOD FOR YOU) was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear of other runners when shifting ground. d) At the 100m, ALL THE RAGE (A Domeyer) was carried out by GOOD FOR YOU (C Little), which initially was hanging in in the straight and then shifted out away from the crop. e) ALL THE RAGE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass was advised.
