THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NEW MEXICO (C Maujean) was fractious in the stalls, taken out, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. b) PEDRO (W Agrella) and MR BELVEDERE (MK Katjedi) were slow into stride. c) ONE SCOTCH (*D Pillay) jumped awkwardly outwards and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h05) b) Permission was granted for IGUGULETHU (Y Ramzan) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) ONE SCOTCH (*D Pillay) over raced in the early and middle stages. d) NEW MEXICO (C Maujean) shifted out away from the crop from the 150m. e) At the 100m, PEDRO (W Agrella) had to steady when awkwardly placed between ONE SCOTCH (*D Pillay) and ARABIAN RED (C Murray). Thereafter, PEDRO (W Agrella) was carried inwards by SILVERY SURFER (M Yeni), which shifted inwards away from the crop in the latter stages. f) Jockey C Maujean reported that he felt something amiss with NEW MEXICO. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer TJ Laing was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this gelding on his return t the stables. g) IGUGULETHU, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised.
