THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROYAL LYTHAM (*B Plaatjies) was restless in the stalls and jumped awkwardly. b) DU MAURIER (*J Botes) jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with EASY MONEY (*D Pillay). c) HEAR MY VOICE (*V Jodhee) jumped slow, losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) OCTOBER FEST (*DD Louw) was hanging in and shifted in between the 200m and the 100m. b) Apprentice V Jodhee reported that HEAR MY VOICE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. c) Apprentice DD Louw was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline B on the use of the crop) in that he mis-used his crop by striking OCTOBER FEST with his crop arm above shoulder height. Apprentice DD Louw signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 500.00. d) QUEEN REGENT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
