THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FRANKIE FAHRENHEIT (*G Samo-Burthia) proved reluctant to proceed to the start, causing a delay. b) TRAJANUS (C Zackey) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) HAMMER BLOW (M Yeni) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. d) CODY'S MARK (C Maujean) and OLYMPIC ADMIRAL (K Matsunyane) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) En-route to the start HAMMER BLOW dislodged Jockey M Yeni and bolted for a short distance. This gelding was taken in hand in the parade ring, reunited with his Rider, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and sent to the start. b) FRANKIE FAHRENHEIT (*G Samo-Burthia) proved reluctant to proceed to the start. Trainer D Nieuwenhuizen was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended. c) Shortly after the start, HAMMER BLOW (M Yeni), which jumped outwards and TRAJANUS (C Zackey), which jumped inwards, came together and bumped. d) Shortly before the finish, Jockey C Maujean was dislodged from CODY'S MARK, which broke down. CODY'S MARK was attended to on course by the Veterinary Surgeon. e) Jockey C Habib did not persevere with his riding of LEGAL FLAME in the concluding stages and thereafter reported that this gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) TRAJANUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SG Tarry was advised. (MdP) JOCKEY CHANGES: None RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) HAMMER BLOW raced with a tongue tie (declared 06h51 on 20251014) b) WAR WIND raced with alumites in front; unshod behind (declared 14h33 on 20251014) THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CODY'S MARK - severe bilateral epistaxis & fractured right hind hock. Humanely euthanised. Specimens were collected for analysis. Trainer WC Marwing was advised. (Dr M Bawden) b) LEGAL FLAME - examined post-race.
