THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AETHELWULF (M Yeni) was nervous in the stalls and kicked the back gates. b) TOP DOLLAR (*G Dookhit) was nervous and reared in the stalls. c) PIBE DE ORO (L Mxothwa) and FIRE TIGER (Y Ramzan) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) PIBE DE ORO recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) Permission was granted for AETHELWULF (M Yeni) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to ` the start. c) NUCLEAR POWER (*N Nastili) over raced in the early and middle stages. d) In view of the performance of DINERO (X Ndlovu), which was not persevered with from the 100m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this horse. Jockey X Ndlovu appeared before the Board and was reminded of his obligation to report any circumstances which might affect the performance of his mount in races. e) STAND UP, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised.
