a) The Starter's assistants had difficulty closing the back gate of GOT THE LOOK (A Domeyer) in stall gate 7, which caused a delay. This was brought to the attention of the Racing Operator.
b) DESTINY'S DREAM (R Fourie) was reluctant to load.
c) BOOZY SUSIE (S Veale) was restless in the stalls.
d) MIDNIGHT LADY (C Little) and SPIRIT OF NICAL (*B Plaatjies) jumped slow, losing one length.
e) REFLECT (*S Bungane) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) At the 500m BOOZY SUSIE (S Veale), which over raced in the early stages, was directed outwards away from the heels of GOT THE LOOK (A Domeyer).
b) AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' (*N Yuen) raced wide without cover on the turn and into the straight.
c) Between the 200m and the 50m LIFELONG DANCE (G Behr) was continually carried inwards by BOOZY SUSIE (S Veale), which initially shifted inwards away from the crop and then continued to shift inwards.
Jockey S Veale appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger measures to keep his mount on a straight course in future engagements.
d) The saddle on LIFELONG DANCE (G Behr) slipped back slightly in running. This was confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon
e) Jockey C Little (MIDNIGHT LADY) dropped his crop at the 150m.
f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding BOOZY SUSIE (S Veale), Trainer J Crawford will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
g) Trainer AE Sands was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of DESTINY'S DREAM. Trainer AE Sands signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R250,00.
h) Trainer AE Sands was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.1 in that he failed to deliver the passport for DESTINY'S DREAM at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of the third (3rd) race. Trainer AE Sands signed Admission of Guilt and was fined R500,00.
i) MIDNIGHT LADY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GS Kotzen was advised. (TJ)
