THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TWO A PENNY (R Fourie) jumped outwards and made contact with TWICE THE MASTER (*S Bungane). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) WESTERN WORLD (S Veale) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. b) GENTLEMAN JOE (S Moodley) was hanging in in the straight. c) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of WESTERN WORLD he misused his crop by striking WESTERN WORLD more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00. d) GENTLEMAN JOE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WA Nel was advised.
