THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) Shortly before exiting the back straight INVICTUS JET (P Mxoli) which commenced to over-race was steadied outwards to avoid running onto the heels of GIMMETHEGOLD (T Godden). As a result SKIPPER O'MALLEY (C Habib) was steadied outwards away from the heels of INVICTUS JET (P Mxoli). b) On entering the final straight CHEERSCHEERSCHEERS (S Veale) was directed to the outside of TRIGGER POINT (J Jacobs) to obtain a clear run. Thereafter IRISH ANTHEM (S Khumalo) was brushed out by CHEERSCHEERSCHEERS (S Veale) which was carried out by TRIGGER POINT (J Jacobs) which shifted out away from the crop. As a result IRISH ANTHEM (S Khumalo) and CALL ME HARRIET (S Hlengwa) made heavy contact which caused CALL ME HARRIET (S Hlengwa) to be eased thereafter. c) Jockey J Jacobs was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of TRIGGER POINT, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to IRISH ANTHEM (S Khumalo), CALL ME HARRIET (S Hlengwa) and CHEERSCHEERSCHEERS (S Veale) shortly after entering the straight. Jockey J Jacobs signed an admission of guilt and was given a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven days (Dates to be advised). d) Leaving the 300m TRIGGER POINT (J Jacobs) and CHEERSCHEERSCHEERS (S Veale) bumped on two occasions, both becoming unbalanced. e) At the 150m CALL ME HARRIET (S Hlengwa) was steadied away from the heels of TRIGGER POINT (J Jacobs) which rolled out. f) In the concluding stages IRISH ANTHEM (S Khumalo) and CHEERSCHEERSCHEERS (S Veale) came together and brushed on several occasions. g) Jockey S Moodley reported that INTRO did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. h) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that he as the rider of CHEERSCHEERSCHEERS misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (15) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey Veale signed an admission of guilt and was fined R7 500. i) CHEERSCHEERSCHEERS (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M De Kock was advised (SP).
