THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JOU LEKKER DING (S Veale) jumped slow, losing one length. b) BERRY'S BOOGIE (AUS) jumped outwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) CALL OF THE KAROO (JP van der Merwe) was buffeted between CLAIR DE LUNE (G Lerena) and GARDEN OF EDEN (*B Plaatjies) shortly after the start. b) After being slow to begin, JOU LEKKER DING (S Veale) raced detached from the field in the early stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Leaving the 400m GARDEN OF EDEN (*B Plaatjies), which was hanging in, took an awkward stride. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) At the 250m CALL OF THE KAROO (JP van der Merwe) was directed outwards away from the heels of tiring GARDEN OF EDEN (*B Plaatjies). e) The bit on CALANQUE (R Fourie), which was hanging out on the turn, pulled through this filly's mouth at the 1000m, placing Jockey R Fourie at a disadvantage. Thereafter, CALANQUE (R Fourie), was hanging in in the straight. f) In view of the performance of PLAYFUL JOULES (M Yeni), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. g) MISS WILLIAM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
