THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLACK PATH (JP van der Merwe) was restless in the stalls. b) APRICITY (M Yeni) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 900m ELUSIVE GIFT (C Orffer), which over raced in the early stages, got its head up when steadied away from the heels of ONCIDIUM (G Lerena). b) MISS NEW YORK (D Ashby) raced without cover in the early and middle stages and raced wide on the latter part of the turn and into the straight. c) At the 300m GIRL MAGIC (O Noach) was directed outwards and into clear running. d) A the 250m ACT OF GRACE (C Little), which was initially directed inwards, was steadied when unable to secure clear running between ONCIDIUM (G Lerena) and APRICITY (M Yeni). Thereafter, ACT OF GRACE (C Little) was directed inwards and brushed GIRL MAGIC (O Noach) at the 100m. ELUSIVE GIFT (C Orffer), which was racing on the inside of GIRL MAGIC (O Noach), was steadied briefly as a consequence and thereafter, Jockey C Orffer did not persevere with his riding of ELUSIVE GIFT. Jockey C Orffer appeared before the Board and was advised that while the Stewards accepted that ELUSIVE GIFT had been inconvenienced during this incident, he was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts to the finish. e) BEACH VERSE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
