THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DUBAI DUDE (S Khumalo) was slow into stride. b) ERIC'S LEGACY (S Moodley) and MYSTERIOUS ERIK (C Dicken) lost two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DM) : a) Shortly after the start, CLEARTHERUNWAY (T Godden) was steadied off the heels of LIGHT THE FIRE (R Venniker) which rolled out and was corrected. b) Entering the straight, DONMAGOO (*D Louw) was directed to the inside of CLEARTHERUNWAY (T Godden) to continue its run. c) Leaving the 200m, LIGHT THE FIRE (R Venniker) shifted out away from the crop. a) Jockey K Matsunyane (DUNGEON MASTER) did not persevere with his ride in the concluding stages and thereafter Jockey Matsunyane reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer Y Govender will be requested to report back on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. d) CLEARTHERUNWAY (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
