MAJOR ARCANA (M YENI) REARED IN THE STALLS. THIS GELDING WAS REMOVED, EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON, PASSED FIT TO RACE AND RELOADED. THEREAFTER, GUNBOAT (J PENNY) WAS RESTLESS IN THE STALLS. THIS GELDING WAS REMOVED, EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON, PASSED FIT TO RACE AND RELOADED. THESE INCIDENTS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MAJOR ARCANA (M Yeni) reared in the stalls. This gelding was removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. Trainer R R Magner was advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT). b) GUNBOAT (J Penny) restless in the stalls. This gelding was removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. Trainer P F Matchett was advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT). c) PLATINUM HILL (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. d) MASTEROFTHEBAROQUE (C Habib) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SPLITTHEEIGHTS (C Murray) raced green. b) GUNBOAT (J Penny) failed to muster speed and trailed the field throughout. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In the concluding stages, ONE OF THOSE DAYS (S Moodley) was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed between COPPER CLIFF (P Mxoli) and SHOREYBOMBA (L Mxothwa). d) In view of the performance of TIGER'S CAPTAIN (M van Rensburg), (distance 18,15 lengths, betting 25/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of PLATINUM HILL (K Matsunyane), (distance 22,75 lengths, betting 100/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with MAJOR ARCANA in running.
