THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MEMPHIS (*K J Lihaba) was restless in the stalls and thereafter jumped awkwardly. b) RUSSIAN NOBILITY (C Zackey) and SIKELOI (*G Samo-Burthia) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1000m, MEMPHIS (*K J Lihaba), which commenced to over-race, ran onto and clipped the heels of WINTER WEDDING (*S Valjalo). Thereafter, at approximately the 900m, MEMPHIS (*K J Lihaba), which continued to over-race, and SAPPHIRE STORM (P Mxoli), which rolled in, came together and bumped. b) After over-racing in the early and middle stages, MEMPHIS (*K J Lihaba) commenced to tire badly from the 200m. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) SAPPHIRE STORM (P Mxoli) commenced to give ground to the field from 300m. Thereafter, Jockey P Mxoli reported that he felt something amiss with this filly in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Apprentice S Valjalo reported that WINTER WEDDING did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) RUSSIAN NOBILITY (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Houdalakis advised (MS).
