THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CONTINENTAL KING (*T Mayhew), RUSSEL SQUARE (C Murray) and EXPLOSIVE CHARM (L Nhlapo) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 300m, the saddle on UBERMENSCH slipped sideways in racing, placing Jockey C Zackey at a severe disadvantage, which resulted in him easing this gelding out of the race. This was confirmed by an Official. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) In view of the performance of RUSSEL SQUARE (C Murray), (distance 14,00 lengths, betting 50/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey G Lerena reported that SCENTED PATH choked up in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) An inquiry will be opened to establish why CONTINENTAL KING (*T Mayhew) had to ease at approximately the 150m. e) SERGEANT SOQRAT (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee F Naude, acting on behalf of Trainer C Spies, was advised (MduP). When questioned regarding the improved performance of SERGEANT SOQRAT, Stable Employee F Naude, acting on behalf of Trainer C Spies could offer the Board no suitable explanation. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running. JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
