THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TRES CHIC (*B Marx-Jacobson) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TRES CHIC (*B Marx-Jacobson) proved difficult proceeding to the start and had to be led, riderless. Trainer PAW Botha was advised that should this mare behave in a similar manner in future engagements, she may be suspended. b) At the 400m COUNT WILLIAM (*V Jodhee) was directed outwards when close to the heels of FLYING SOUTH (*D Pillay). c) In view of the performance of TRES CHIC (*B Marx-Jacobson), which was hanging out from the 300m and proved difficult to assist in the latter stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) Apprentice S Valjalo reported that MARIACHI MADNESS did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Apprentice N Nastili reported that STATE CAPITOL coughed post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. f) In view of the performance of MELA STRENGTH (*G Samo-Burthia) (Betting 28/10; Distance 4.15 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) Trainer MH Maingard was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of COUNT WILLIAM. Trainer MH Maingard signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning. h) COUNT WILLIAM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer MH Maingard was advised.
