THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STAR TROOPER (MK Katjedi), EPIC THUNDER (K Minnie), TIMELINE (K Strydom) and BUDDLEJA (Y Ramzan) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (11h55) b) BUDDLEJA (Y Ramzan) was heavily buffeted between DEVOTED (R Fourie), which jumped awkwardly outwards and ALESIAN BEAU (C Little), which jumped inwards sharply shortly after the start. c) STAR TROOPER (MK Katjedi) raced wide on the turn and into the straight and was directed towards the outside running rail from the 300m. d) DEVOTED shifted out away from the crop at the 250m and thereafter Jockey R Fourie did not ride vigorously to the finish. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. When questioned with regard to the manner in which he rode DEVOTED, Jockey R Fourie explained that this colt had raced green and tired quickly and, in his opinion, as discussed with the Trainer, this horse is coltish and needs to be gelded. His explanation was noted. Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this colt on his return to the stables. e) JET QUERARI, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
