THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LOTUS SILK (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls and rushed the front gates. b) STAR OF ELENA (*N Nastili) was nervous in the stalls and kicked the back gates. c) CHRONICLESOFNANIA (M Yeni) was nervous in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. d) DUTCHESS D'ORANGE (MK Katjedi) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h34) b) LOTUS SILK (R Fourie) over raced in the early and middle stages and compounded in the straight. Thereafter Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with this filly. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Jockey R Fourie approached the Board and explained that this was the first time this filly had raced on the polytrack and, in his opinion, she did not enjoy the surface. Although it was his intention to ride this filly with vigour, she did not respond to his urgings and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. His explanation was noted. Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. c) PRESERVE FOREVER (W Agrella) over raced in the early and middle stages. d) GREENLIGHT DANCER (E Webber) over raced in the early and middle stages and thereafter, was hanging in from the 200m. e) Jockey C Little did not persevere with his riding of JUST FOR YOU from the 300m and thereafter reported that this filly choked up in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Apprentice N Nastili did not persevere with his riding of STAR OF ELENA from the 250m and thereafter reported that he felt something amiss with this filly. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this filly is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. Assistant Trainer F Jacobs was advised. Assistant Trainer F Jacobs was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. g) CANFORD QUEEN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
