THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ANNEWITHAN E (G Lerena), SURPRISE PARTY (C Zackey) and PEPPER TREE (*K J Lihaba) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RED SPARROW (M K Katjedi) over-raced in the early stages. b) At approximately the 1400m, LADY BLUNT (M van Rensburg) and WORLD HERITAGE (J R Syster), which were over-racing, were steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the inside of ANNEWITHAN E (G Lerena), which was also over-racing and rolled inwards. c) Apprentice S Valjalo reported that he felt something amiss with BEIRA in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) DUCHESS OF PALOMA (C Murray), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
