THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BE MERRY (JP van der Merwe) stumbled leaving the stalls. b) DISTING (MK Katjedi) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ROCCAPINA (A Domeyer) was fractious in the parade ring, refused to canter past and was led to the start by a Handler and assisted by a lead pony, causing a delay. Trainer C Bass was advised that this filly is suspended indefinitely in terms of Rule 93.2.4 and until such time as she proves tractable proceeding to the start on a race day. b) Shortly after the start BE MERRY (JP van der Merwe), which had stumbled leaving the stalls, was bumped outwards by ROCCAPINA (A Domeyer) and then made contact with DISTING (MK Katjedi). As a consequence, DISTING (MK Katjedi) was squeezed out and lost ground to the field. c) DIRECT HIT (R Fourie) and MISS WORLD (*B Plaatjies) were hanging out from the 300m. d) Jockeys A Domeyer (ROCCAPINA) and C Zackey (GREEN DIAMOND) reported that they felt something amiss with these fillies. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) ASIYE PHAMBILI, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Woodruff was advised. (WM) f) SYMPHONY IN WHITE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Mr M Bass was advised on behalf of Trainer C Bass.
