THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GET IMPRESSED (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing two lengths. b) HIS MAJESTY (IRE) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, LEGAL COUNSEL (C Murray) was bumped on both sides by ARDABIL (*N Yuen) and GALLIC DREAM (M Yeni), both of which shifted ground marginally. b) Shortly after the start I SALUTE YOU (C Zackey), which took an awkward stride, was brushed outwards by CAPTAIN WEST (K de Melo) and made contact with SCOTTISH KISS (S Veale). c) Jockey K de Melo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking CAPTAIN WEST in front of the saddle at the 100m. Jockey K de Melo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. d) Apprentice N Yuen was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of ARDABIL she misused her crop by striking ARDABIL more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Apprentice N Yuen signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2 000,00. e) ARDABIL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
