THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLUE PALACE (L Mxothwa) fly-jumped leaving the stalls and struck the left side front gate. During this incident, Jockey L Mxothwa injured his left hand. As a consequence, BLUE PALACE shifted inwards sharply towards the inside running rail. Jockey L Mxothwa was unable to assist this filly and only regained his left-side rein at the 1100m. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h25) b) In view of the performance of JAPANESE GARDEN (C Habib), which over raced in the early and middle stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer WGC Miller was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. c) Leaving the 700m GORGEOUS CAPE (S Khumalo) was carried outwards by MARSHMALLOW (*G Dookhit), which shifted out slightly at the 600m. Thereafter, at the 250m, GORGEOUS CAPE (S Khumalo), which was carried outwards by JET LAVISH (*B Soodoo), was awkwardly placed on the heels of MARSHMALLOW (*G Dookhit), which shifted in and had to be steadied momentarily. d) BLUE PALACE (L Mxothwa) was hanging in in the latter stages. e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding BLUE PALACE (L Mxothwa), Trainer SB Kotzen will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. f) GREAT NOTION, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
