JUAN TWO THREE was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. LE GRAND ROUGE was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls. ALWAHSH (NZ) hit the front gates open, restrained, jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls, was slow away and lost 1 length. A race review was called into the start by a member of the Stipendiary Board, with regards to ALWAHSH (NZ) in stall gate five (5) where it was established that this gelding nudged the front gate open shortly before the start was effected. The Board after reviewing the incident felt that this gelding had gained no advantage through this action and therefore declared him to be a runner. At approximately the 900m, PURPLE DIAMOND brushed the inside running rail when carried in by SIR FRENCHIE (AUS), which hung in from the start. The Board after reviewing the patrol films deemed this to be a racing incident. ALDO shifted out away from the crop from the 200m. ALDO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
