THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PONTE PIETRA (*S Bungane) jumped slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Permission was granted for Trainer H Brown to saddle PONTE PIETRA, which had proved difficult on previous occasions, outside of the saddling area. b) PONTE PIETRA (*S Bungane) pulled hard in the early and middle stages and raced awkwardly on the turn. c) HANDSOME PRINCE (G Wright) raced without cover in the early and middle stages and, as a consequence, proved difficult to settle. d) COUNT OF ROUEN (G Lerena) was hanging out from the 200m. e) At the 50m NORDIC CHIEF (A Fortune) rolled out away from VOORLOOPERTJIE (S Veale) and brushed HAT'S PRIDE (C Little). Thereafter, HAT'S PRIDE (C Little) shifted in slightly and made contact with NORDIC CHIEF (A Fortune) at the finish. Jockey C Little called for a race review and after reviewing the patrol film, took no further action. f) VOORLOOPERTJIE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
