THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MEGHAN'S DIAMOND (L Mxothwa) jumped slow, losing one length. b) CUTIE PATOOTIE (A Domeyer) jumped outwards and made contact with SURELY NOT (*N Yuen) leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) VIXENS WAR (C Little) was hanging out throughout. b) At the 200m SURELY NOT (*N Yuen) was steadied and directed outwards when close to the heels of a tiring VIVO PER LEI (G van Niekerk). c) When questioned, Jockey G van Niekerk told the Stewards that VIVO PER LEI had raced well in advance of the field in the early stages, had commenced to weaken from the 400m, had changed stride awkwardly and, as he was adamant that there was something amiss with the filly, he eased this filly out of the race from the 250m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this filly is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. Trainer D McLachlan will be advised. d) CUTIE PATOOTIE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Dixon, acting on behalf of Trainer WA Nel, was advised.
