Light rain fell prior to and during the running of this race. During the loading process AYUWI YUWI (A Mgudlwa) became restless and rushed the front gates. This filly was released from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. This caused a delay to the rescheduled time of this race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AYUWU YUWI (A Mgudlwa) was restless and rushed the front gates. This filly was released from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. b) LIGHT OF GABRIEL (C Zackey), WILLOW GEM (*D Pillay) and WINTER RAINFALL (K de Melo) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) WILLOW GEM (*D Pillay) and WINTER RAINFALL (K de Melo) were squeezed out shortly after the start. b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that HILLARY STEP did not stride out freely in the running and as a result he did not persevere with his riding in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) LIGHT OF GABRIEL (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
