Light rain fell during the running of this race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) Jockey C F Dicken reported that DAWN SURPRISE did not act in the prevailing soft underfoot track condition. b) Jockey S Khumalo (LITTLEBLACKGEM) accidentally dropped his crop at the 100m. c) In view of the performance of OMNIPOTENT (*D Pillay) (12.30 lengths, 25/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested. d) SNEEUWITJIE (M Michel), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Prinsloo was advised (DZ). Trainer M N Prinsloo was questioned with regard to the improved performance of SNEEUWITJIE when compared to its previous three runs. Trainer Prinsloo explained to the Board that this filly's last three runs have been on the polytrack which may not have suited her. He elected to run this filly on the turf today and in his opinion she may have appreciated today's soft underfoot track condition. Trainer Prinsloo was advised to race this filly in similar conditions where possible in future. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to in and out running.
