THE STARTER REPORTED: a) On arriving at the start WARRIOR OF ROYALTY (S Khumalo) broke loose, bolted the course and was withdrawn, causing a delay. b) B FIFTYTWO (M van Rensburg) was stubborn loading. c) CHOCOLATE BOMB (S Naidoo) jumped outwards. d) CROWNED HORNBILL (Y Ramzan) stumbled leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h54) b) Permission was granted for CHOCOLATE BOMB (S Naidoo) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) CHOCOLATE BOMB (S Naidoo) proved difficult proceeding to the start and was led by a Handler. Trainer DG Smith was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future engagements, he may be suspended. d) At approximately the 200m Jockey R Fourie (KINGS AGAIN) hesitated with his riding in anticipation of being close to the heels of KING VISERYS (C Zackey), which was carried out by CHOCOLATE BOMB (S Naidoo). e) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that B FIFTYTWO did not stride out freely and made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Trainer DG Smith was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.2 in that he failed to ensure that CHOCOLATE BOMB was presented in the security area at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of the sixth (6th) race. Trainer DG Smith signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R2 500,00. g) CHOCOLATE BOMB, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DG Smith was advised.
