MILL QUEEN, SPIRITOFTHEGROOVE and RISK TAKER were slow into stride. MAGIC SCHOOL reared in the stalls, losing 2 lengths. MARYGOLD was slow, losing 1 length. As a result of the Starter's report with regards to MAGIC SCHOOL in stall gate number 15, the Board reviewed the start of this race and established that this filly had reared as the start was effected and that the handler assigned to MAGIC SCHOOL was slightly late in releasing her. The Board was of the opinion that this impediment and subsequent loss of distance was as a consequence of MAGIC SCHOOL'S own behaviour and therefore took no further action. At approximately the 1000m SUMMER PUDDING had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed on the inside of MARYGOLD. SUMMER PUDDING was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Kennedy accidentally dropped his right side rein at the 100m, which he only regained shortly after the finish line. Jockey Kennedy signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention in that, whilst riding the horse SUMMER PUDDING, he saluted in a celebratory gesture prior to the finish line. QUERARI FERRARI was hanging out from the 400m. Jockey Maujean reported that SHIVERS did not stride out freely in running. Jockey Khumalo reported that CHRISTMAS FLOWER took no interest in running. Vet: SHIVERS - not striding out left front. SPIRITOFTHEGROOVE - post-race distress. CHRISTMAS FLOWER - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected.
