THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SUPREME JUDGE (C Zackey) was nervous in the stalls and stood awkwardly. b) OUTBACK EXPRESS (*G Dookhit) jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h58) b) Permission was granted for SUPREME JUDGE (C Zackey) and JAMES FITZJAMES (S Naidoo) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) The scale in the weighing room malfunctioned. As a consequence, all Jockeys were weighed back in on the winners' scale. d) Shortly after the start, SUPREME JUDGE (C Zackey) and JAMES FITZJAMES (S Naidoo) came together and bumped. e) OUTBACK EXPRESS (*G Dookhit) was carried outwards by JAMES FITZJAMES (S Naidoo), which was steadied and directed outwards away from the heels of PROLIFIC STAR (Y Ramzan), which was in turn directed outwards to avoid running onto the heels of BACK FOR MORE (R Fourie), which shifted inwards when the saddle on BACK FOR MORE (R Fourie) slipped back in running at approximately the 500m. Jockeys S Naidoo, Y Ramzan and R Fourie appeared before the Board and were questioned with regard to the above incident and agreed with the details, as confirmed by the Stipendiary Stewards. f) HOLLANDIA BAKKERIJ (C Little) was hanging in badly from the 300m. g) PORFIRIO (*B Soodoo) was hanging in from the 200m. h) In view of the report from the Starter regarding SUPREME JUDGE (C Zackey), Trainer DG Smith will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. i) PORFIRIO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
