THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MISS DANON (R A Venniker), SCARLET STARLET (S Khumalo), RED SECRET (C Little) and AMPHITRITE (M Thackeray) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded (12h52). b) As the start was effected CARTEL QUEEN jumped awkwardly outward which resulted in Apprentice D D Louw losing the footing to his left-side stirrup iron which after numerous attempts, he was unable to regain. This resulted in the saddle on CARTEL QUEEN slipping sideways, and Apprentice D D Louw relinquishing the footing to his right-side stirrup iron and being unable to fully assist this filly thereafter. c) In view of the performance of AMERICAN GEM (D Daniels) (18.55 lengths, 16/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Trainer W Whitehead signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 8.3.1., in that she failed to ensure that the owner's colours were available for the horse CARTEL QUEEN. Accordingly, a warning was issued. e) SCARLET STARLET (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer Gavin van Zyl acting on behalf of Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) was advised (MM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) PAST IS PROLOGUE raced fitted with alumites (advised 09.01.2026/15h23). b) RED SECRET raced without a tongue tie (advised 09.01.2026/08h58). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) CARTEL QUEEN (*D D Louw) raced with club colours. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) AMERICAN GEM : Nothing obvious detected.
